Menopause - Vitamin D - Thinning

Menopause brings a wave of changes—some empowering, others challenging. Among the most common concerns women face during this transition is hair thinning or loss. Hormonal shifts, especially the decline in estrogen and progesterone, directly impact hair growth cycles, often resulting in dryness, shedding, or slower regrowth.

A crucial nutrient often overlooked in this equation is vitamin D. Known for its role in bone health and immunity, vitamin D also supports healthy hair follicles. Low levels of vitamin D have been linked to hair thinning, particularly in menopausal women, whose natural production of the vitamin often decreases with age.

It's so important for women over 40 to get their vitamin D levels checked and consider supplementation if needed. Incorporating foods like fatty fish, eggs, and fortified plant milks, alongside safe sun exposure, can also help restore this essential nutrient.

In the past few months, I've noticed a moderate amount of hair loss even though my hair is relatively healthy overall.  To address it, I started using Viviscal supplements along with a wonderful product I purchased in Paris called "Hair K Paris".  This product includes nourishing ingredients like caviar, organ oil, keratin and hyaluronic acid.  Since incorporating both into my routine, I've seen a significant change in my hair's texture- it's become incredibly soft, more manageable and with  continued use I'm hopeful I'll regain some of the volume I've lost.   See link to product below.

Combining vitamin D with a balanced diet, gentle scalp massages, and clean, plant-based hair care products can help support thicker, healthier hair throughout menopause and beyond.
